I like to consider myself something of a Midwesterner, who has lived more than half my life in the Puget Sound region, and loved it. Although my father, maternal grand- and great-grandfathers, brother and sister have been involved in some degree of ministry or medical missions, God allowed me to develop a shepherd’s heart more through nearly forty years of employment in various forms of transportation. The last twenty-seven plus years of my career were with Community Transit, with just over twenty-four of those years in supervision. (My favorite piece of advice to those I trained for supervision or dispatch was, “Always lead with a question.”) I did serve as pastor of Free Methodist churches in Jamestown, North Dakota and on Whidbey Island, Washington.

My wife and I have four adult children; two daughters, followed by two sons, and all of us enjoy music. I enjoy great music, good books, and quality wordplay (good puns). Some favorites of mine: Bible Characters – Barnabas, Joseph, and the shepherds at the nativity; Favorite hymns – “Great Is Thy Faithfulness,” “It Is Well with My Soul,” “Joy to the World!”, and “Christ The Lord Is Risen Today”; Favorite secular book – Ivanhoe; Favorite books of the Bible – Isaiah and the Gospel of John.

My Mom led me to Christ by explaining Isaiah 53 to me, when I was a child. It made sense to me, and I asked Jesus for his forgiveness, and to come into my heart. I know it made an immediate change in this child, because I didn’t wait long to tell my brother and sister, plus neighbor children, what had happened to me. I still love that passage, and enjoy telling people about my faith in God’s perfect Lamb.
