In some ways, being a Christian is like being a runner in the longest and most rewarding race ever. However, while the siren calls of work and school may have us discouraged running our own race, it is important to be reminded that we can be the cheering crowd in another’s.
Adopt-a-Missionary is the perfect opportunity to show love to those helping and sharing the Gospel while running their own race in another country. Adopting a missionary or family of missionaries of your choice involves not only praying or giving to them, but also getting better acquainted with those who call the Mission’s field home. This can be as simple as sending your missionary a monthly postcard or as close as calling them or inviting them for dinner when they are in the area. No matter the situation, encouragement can make all of the difference in their journey, and calls and prayers will always be appreciated.
As Jesus said in Mathew 28:19, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
Giving some of our time for those who are giving all of theirs is the reason for Adopt-a-Missionary because we know that helping to make disciples is what missions is all about.
