Today is Ash Wednesday (February 18th), the beginning of the Lenten Season. What does that mean? Lent is a 40-day span of time leading up to the commemoration of Jesus’ death and resurrection. It is a time during which we take some special time to consider Jesus’ loving sacrifice for us. Often this season is observed with special mid-week services.
This year at Atonement we are gathering – either in Home Groups or at the church – around the theme Consider the Price Christ Paid, as we walk through the Passion History as recorded in the Gospel of Matthew. If you aren’t in a Home Group, gatherings at the church will be Wednesday, 6:30-8:00pm, and Thursday, 10:00-11:30am (Senior Bible Study time) starting the 18th.
We encourage all to participate in these special times. We will be singing some of the Lenten hymns, listening to a presentation on a portion of the Passion History, engaging in some thought-filled discussion, then wrapping up with some closing singing and prayer.
I am trusting that the time will be a blessing for all.
