This years' Mata-thon is coming up! The run/walk/bike fundraiser for Mission Aviation Training Academy will be held on Saturday, May 14 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

The fundraising event includes running, walking, or biking around the 6-mile Arlington Airport Trail to raise money for missions through Mission Aviation Training Academy (MATA). Funds raised this year will help them fly kids into camp in Alaska this summer at which many have received the Lord or were counseled and helped through difficult issues such as abuse and suicide.

For those interested in running, walking or biking...

Here's how it works: You find sponsors who will sponsor you on a per-mile basis or at a flat rate and then you hit the trail! If you sponsor one of the youth to participate in the Matathon, not only will you be helping with the outreach in Alaska, you will also be helping the young person you sponsor to be involved in going the distance for missions – learning to invest in things of eternal importance.  Every year I hear of youth that would be involved in the Matathon but just haven’t found someone to sponsor them.

•    Sponsors can either give the money in advance or be mailed a “bill” for the amount they pledged later.
•    MATA is a non-profit organization and you will receive a tax receipt for the donation you give.

Here are some more activities that will be available throughout the day:

  • Half-hour plane rides (suggested donation: $30)
  • Kids Movie: Pixar's Planes
  • Raffle: Tickets $1/ea or six for $5.
  • Kids' Contest: Paper Airplane flight contest
  • Snacks: Light snacks will be provided

Let’s enable many to go the distance for missions and impact the lives of these hurting kids in Alaska!
